Introduction
FaceScreen is a camera overlay app for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS brought to you by Softal.io and developed by Ram Patra. You can contact them on their social media accounts or through the chat bubble.
What data is being collected?
Currently, FaceScreen does not collect any user data, including face data. The camera is only used to show the live camera feed on the screen or in Picture in Picture. No video, photo, camera frame, face image, face geometry, face landmark, face map, biometric identifier, or other face-related data is recorded, saved, uploaded, or sent to any server by FaceScreen. If in the future FaceScreen needs to collect any user data to properly function then this privacy policy will be updated, and the same will also be reflected in the app. Having said that, it is highly unlikely that this app will need user data to function.
Face data and camera processing
FaceScreen does not collect, store, retain, analyze, identify, or share face data. FaceScreen does not use face recognition, face identification, biometric analysis, or face tracking to identify a user. Camera frames are processed locally on the user's device only to display the live camera preview, apply user-selected visual settings such as mirroring, zoom, shape, filters, text labels, or Picture in Picture, and then the frames are discarded. FaceScreen does not retain face data for any period of time because no face data is collected in the first place.
Will any third party company collect data?
FaceScreen does not use or rely on any third party companies to process the camera feed or face data. It is a standalone application that runs on your device and doesn't need a server or backend to operate. FaceScreen does not share camera frames, video, photos, or face data with third parties.
What are my rights as a user?
If FaceScreen were to ever collect user data then you can:
  • enquire what data is being collected
  • question why the app needs to collect data
  • ask what does the app do with the data
  • request your data that is being collected
  • request to delete your data
As of today, FaceScreen does not collect any data so you should be good.
How do I get Privacy Policy updates?
If there is an update to the Privacy Policy then this page will be updated. Additionally, the Mac App Store page and the app will be updated with the necessary information. Having said that, you're always welcome to join the community at x.com/softal_io to stay abreast of the latest changes and additions to the software.
